INDIANAPOLIS — The city recently announced the beginning of construction season in Indianapolis, with a significant investment in roads, new bike lands, new and improved sidewalks, and new multi-purpose trails.
This year’s projects will help to improve the city’s roadways, rehabilitate bridges, enhance pedestrian safety, and improve stormwater infrastructure.
Indianapolis will see a total of $363 million in infrastructure investment this year through projects funded in 2024.
“All across the city, Indy DPW engineers are finding ways to build better infrastructure for our residents,” Indy DPW Director Brandon Herget said. “Getting all of our residents more safely from point A to point B is the number one directive.”
Plans include strip patching 16th and 21st streets between Arlington and Emerson, and Sherman to Emerson on 10th St. Sidewalk and trail improvements are slated for the project that will make New York and Michigan streets into two-way thoroughfares.
