INDIANAPOLIS — Teacherville, an initiative by Educate ME Foundation, hopes to assist Black educators to achieve homeownership and to diversify the teacher workforce in the Indianapolis area.
Teacherviille focuses on specific challenges to home ownership by Black educators. Many educators encounter financial challenges, from high student loan debt to low salaries. Teacherville focuses on breaking down economic barriers hindering Black educators from purchasing homes.
Through strategic partnerships with the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP), Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC), and the African American Legacy Fund of Indianapolis (AALFI), the initiative helps Black educators find affordable housing and down payment assistance.
Homes are concentrated in the Martindale-Brightwood area and the near eastside, and range in price from $110,000 upwards. Visit https://www.teacherville.org/ for more information and links to properties.
