IRVINGTON — On Friday, Nov. 17 at 4:30 p.m., residents will be meeting at 6125 E. Washington St. to build awareness of the need for traffic calming through Irvington. They will be congregating in front of Magick Candle and will march along Washington St. between Arlington and Kitley. Being visible and using the streets is the easiest way to raise awareness. The walk should last about an hour.
Their presence along the Washington Street corridor is to signal to drivers that people live, work, walk, and play here. Wear bright clothing or costumes if you’d like; bring signs such as “SLOW DOWN!”; “We live, work and play here!”; “Stop and chat with us!”; “Why are you in such a hurry?”
A similar Community Walk is planned for Small Business Saturday Nov. 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. A Facebook event will be posted in coming days — search Facebook for “Irvington Communtity Walk.”
Trash bags will be available for anyone wanting to help clean up along the walk. Bring your own gloves if desired.
Single use plastic water bottles will NOT be provided.
