• The Athenaeum will host a Christkindlmarkt Nov. 24-Dec. 17 at 401 E. Michigan St. Hours will be noon-8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, noon-5 p.m. on Sunday for opening weekend. Hours Dec. 1-17 are Friday 4-8 p.m., Saturday noon-8 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. Admission is free. Many vendors with local handicrafts will be open, plus live entertainment, German food and much more.
• The Indy Winter Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at AMP at 16 Tech, 1220 Waterway Blvd. About 80 vendors will be on hand in the indoor market. The Wednesday Fresh Market at the Irving Theatre happens from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Irving Theater, 5505 E. Washington St. with a variety of local vendors selling everything from meat and dairy to freshly made breads and sweets. Shop local for those Thanksgiving goodies!
• The City of Lawrence will open its annual Winterfest on Saturday, Nov. 25 with a parade and tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Winterfest runs every weekend through Dec. 23 from 2-7 p.m. The skating rink at Lawrence Civic Plaza will open at 2 p.m. with a Winter Market. Civic Plaza is located at 9230 Memorial Park Dr., just north of 56th St. and east of Post Rd.
• Hancock Co. Library will hold a Book Sale on Friday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to Monday, Nov. 21. Hardcovers are $1 and paperbacks and children’s books are 50 cents. Monday is bargain day, with a bag of books selling for $2. The sale will be held at the Hancock Co. Library, 1001 Frontville Pike in Greenfield.
• The Third Floor Gallery will present Indy Pinball and ICAN food drive on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 4-9 p.m. The gallery, located in the Irvington Lodge at 5515 E. Washington St., will be open, showing Halloween inspired works, plus the pinball gallery will be open and hosting a food drive for the ICAN food pantry. Bring two non-perishable, unexpired food items to play pinball or pay $5 admission.
• Conservatory Crossing at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 2519 Garfield Plaza Dr., opens on Friday, Nov. 24 and runs through Dec. 31. This annual winter wonderland will be open Tues.-Sat. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. from 1-5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $12 per family (2 adults maximum). Check out the trains, poinsettias, and thousands of twinkling lights.
• The Irvington Historical Society’s Holiday Fair will be this weekend, Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free to this event, held at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 E. University Ave. The Benton House Holiday Bazaar and Toy Drive honoring Steve “Santa” Nicewanger will also be held Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Benton House, 312 S. Downey Ave. Bring an unwrapped new toy to donate to Gaia Works’ holiday giveaway to needy children. The two events are within a couple of blocks, so you can park once and shop twice!
