• The Bosart Brown Neighborhood will continue its annual Vintage Movie Night tradition with a block party and show on Saturday, Oct. 21 on the 100 block of Wallace Ave. from 6-11 p.m. The movie will be the silent film The Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916) starring Douglas Fairbanks at 8 p.m., plus the classic Phantom of the Opera at 8:30 p.m. starring Lon Chaney. The Indianapolis Fire Dept. will have a fire truck for the kids to explore at 6 p.m., then a pitch-on meal, music and much more. IMPD will host a roll call at 9 p.m. There will be barriers placed at New York and Washington St. for the event.
• Congratulations to Spalding Jewelry for their 75th Anniversary in Beech Grove. They will be celebrating their longevity on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 3-5 p.m. at the store, 701 Main St. with cupcakes, music, and special giveaways.
• The New Palestine Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 from 1-5 p.m. at 11 E. Main St. There will be a Scarecrow Stroll, where businesses decorate scarecrows, food vendors, games, music, a chili tasting, and much more.
• Construction of the new phase of the Pogue’s Run Trail has begun, connecting the existing trail ending at Commerce Ave. and Brookside N. Drive to the Pogue’s Run Art & Nature Park at 23rd St. and Dequincy St. The project includes ADA ramp upgrades and a 100 foot pedestrian bridge in Brookside Park. Construction will be completed by the summer of 2025.

• Good Shepherd UMC will host Trail of Treats on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 2-4 p.m. Located at 2015 S. Arlington Ave., the afternoon will include games, treats, and crafts for kids, food, and much more in an indoor environment. Dressing up is encouraged for this free event.
• The community recycling center at Old City Hall, 202 N. Alabama, has been closed permanently due to new development on the site. The city is looking for another location in Center Township for recycling. The closest center is at Garfield Park, 2345 Pagoda Dr.
• Bashiri Asad will perform an evening of Marvin Gaye’s songs on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Theatre at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. Tickets are $30 for adults. Visit artsforlawrence.org for more information and to get tickets in advance.
• The Indianapolis Public Library hosts “Meet an Author, Be an Author” featuring free workshops about the writing and publishing process on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair. This free event allows you to meet more than 40 authors, buy their books and get them signed as well as workshops.
