IRVINGTON — Irvington has a long history of encouraging creativity. Whether it was cartoonists, like Kin Hubbard, columnists like Wayne Guthrie, the Irvington Group of artists (Forsyth, Baus, Morlan, Polley, etc.) or painted shop windows, it is all creative. Irvington individuals are still turning blank space into something visually exciting.
The Irvington Historical Society will open its sixth annual exhibit, Presenting Irvington Artists, celebrating the creativity of local artists. Our gallery is filled with all mediums, in both 2 and 3 dimensional works of abstract and realistic art, and most of the pieces are for sale. The subjects are landscapes, portraits, and sculpture. Some pieces are eerie, some are realistic and some are whimsical, some present a Halloween vibe. Over 30 artists will be on display.
Presenting Irvington Artists, which honors Irvington’s artistic creativity begins on Sunday, Oct. 1, with a reception from 1 to 4 at the Bona Thompson Center, 5350 University Ave. Come meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and vote for your favorite artist as the People’s Choice. Buy a piece of contemporary Irvington Art and support this annual event.
Presenting Irvington Artists is open each Saturday / Sunday from 1-4 from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5.
