INDIANAPOLIS — Recently, city officials and representative of the Bates Hendricks Neighborhood Association marked the completion of the new Ringgold Park playground and provided an update on the 26 parks receiving playground upgrades with more than $17 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
“Whether it’s a playground, pool, basketball court, or green space, our park amenities enhance the quality of life for all Indianapolis residents. These new investments will truly have a generational impact on our city,” said Councillor Oliver. “As Chair of the Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, I’m proud to support these projects that will provide transformational opportunities for our youth and all Indianapolis residents.”
Ringgold Park’s new playground was recently completed along with the playground at Stacy Park. Both parks received new playground equipment and rubberized, or synthetic turf surfacing installed around the playground. Nineteen more parks are in the construction bidding process. Bids will then be reviewed and approved by the Parks Board and playground construction will take place later this fall and into the spring of 2024.
According to the Indy Parks Web site, Brookside Park, Forest Manor Park, Washington Park, and Oscar Charleston Park are among several slated for playground renovations and upgrades thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act.
