CUMBERLAND : There will be a food and fund drive including a rummage sale for the Community Outreach Ministry Eastside/Cumberland First Baptist Church on Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Cumberland First Baptist Church, 116 S. Muessing St.
Part of the funds from the rummage sale will help this small east side pantry restock their nearly empty pantry shelves and help to purchase an additional freezer which is very needed. Like many pantries in the area, COME is seeing increasing numbers of individuals coming to the pantries who cannot afford the basics due to inflation.
The public is invited to help this small local food pantry that serves Warren Township in Marion County as well as Buck Creek and Sugar Creek townships in Hancock County.
Food to be collected: nonperishables such as: canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned or jars of Spaghetti sauce, boxed or canned pasta, cereal, boxed or bagged rice, soup, soup beans, or crackers. Checks or gift Cards may be made out to COME and dropped off that day or mailed to the Cumberland First Baptist Church address.
Community Outreach Ministry Eastside Food Pantry is housed at the Cumberland First Baptist Church and is a Non-profit that has been serving the community since 1986 and consists of 7 member churches: Amity United Methodist, Cumberland Christian Church, Cumberland First Baptist, Cumberland United Methodist, Eastgate Christian Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St. John United Christian Church and very special volunteers.
