• If you are looking for a new vantage point to see the 4th of July fireworks, check out the Phoenix’s “4th at the Phoenix” Fireworks July 4th from 7-11 p.m. Experience the best view of downtown Indianapolis’ spectacular fireworks show from the outdoor venue, located just one block away from the launch point. • This is the final week to submit Vendor Applications to the 2023 Irvington Halloween Festival Street Fair, which will take place October 28. Applications will be accepted through July 1 for artisans, crafters, small businesses, and NGOs. Please submit applications online at https://bit.ly/irvhalloweenvendors
• Indy Shorts Film Festival tickets are on sale now. Running July 18-23, Indy Shorts is an Academy Award-Qualifying film festival. This year features over 165 films that will be shown at Living Room Theatres downtown, Newfields, and the Fort Ben Cultural Campus in Lawrence. Last year’s films were outstanding and we can’t wait to see what surprises come up this year! Tickets are $12, or save money by buying packs of tickets at a discount. • The Bona Thompson Memorial Center is will be closed Sunday, July 2. You can still swing by and see the great exhibits on Saturday, July 1 from 1-4 p.m. to see the Irvington Group and Kin Hubbard displays. The museum is located at 5350 University Ave. in Irvington. Admission is free, but a donation is appreciated.
• There will be a kite festival at Garfield Park at the Arts Center on Saturday, July 1 from 1-4 p.m. Bring your own kite or create one on-site with one of their kits. There will be lots of things for the family to do, including face painting, water games, and food vendors. Admission is free. The park is located at 2432 Conservatory Dr. near Shelby St. and Southern Ave. on the southeast side.
• INDOT will hold a Community Conversation as part of the ProPEL Indy Study. Community members can offer feedback and ideas on the future of I-65 and I-70 inside the 465 loop. There will be a meetings on Thursday, July 13 from 2-4 p.m. at the John Boner Center. 2236 E. 10th St.; on Monday, July 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Conference Center, 2820 N. Meridian; Wednesday, July 19 at the Far Eastside Neighborhood Center, 8902 E. 38th St.; Thursday, July 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Martin University, 2186 N. Sherman; Thursday, July 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at INDOT Traffic Management Center, 8620 E. 21st St.
