City Creates International Leadership Academy

INDIANAPOLIS — Led by the Mayor’s Office of International and Latino Affairs (OILA) and the Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC), the International Leaders Academy (ILA), the free leadership initiative is designed to provide immigrants living in Marion County with greater access to civic, health, and education resources, as well as advocacy and leadership opportunities.
Through this program, participants will grow their knowledge on how to navigate City government, engage with City officials, and advocate for their communities. Program topics will include civic engagement, public health and safety, economic development, education and family resources, and more.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Be a resident of Marion County
• 18 years or older
• Identify as an immigrant/refugee or child of an immigrant/refugee in the United States
The City is looking for participants who are actively engaged with their communities and/or organizations to act as advocates and ambassadors for their immigrant networks. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applications can be found online at indy.gov and searching for the Office of International and Latino Affairs.
The 2023 program will consist of a welcome ceremony, eight content-rich sessions, and a graduation ceremony. The sessions will be from August 26 to December 12.
