BROAD RIPPLE — Billed as the “Greatest Spectacle in Rubber Duck Racing,” the annual Broad Ripple Duck Race will take place Sunday, June 4 from 3-5 p.m. Ducks begin racing at 4:30 p.m.
The afternoon features free children’s activities on the Rainbow Bridge overlooking the Broad Ripple Canal on Guilford Avenue north of Westfield Boulevard for families to enjoy from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Promptly at 4:30, three thousand rubber ducks will enter the water at the Start Line where the Monon trail crosses the Central Canal. The ducks race west down the canal towards the Finish Line located by the pedestrian bridge near College Avenue.
Want to join in on the fun? Ducks come in single entries for $6, a paddling of 6 ducks for $30, or flocks of at least 50 entries for $4 per duck! You can purchase your duck entries before race day at several locations around Broad Ripple: the Broad Ripple Farmers Market each Saturday morning from 8 a.m.-noon, the BRVA office during office hours, and other special pop up sales events. You must be 18 years old to purchase a duck as the race is considered a gambling event (Indiana Charity Gaming License Number #14471).
Proceeds support BRVA programs and projects focused on enriching the community, attracting investment, amplifying public spaces, and improving quality of life in Broad Ripple.
