INDIANAPOLIS — United Northeast Community Development Corporation (UNEC) recently announced the appointment of Gregory Garrett Jr. as its new Deputy Director, effective April 24. In this role, Garrett will be responsible for assisting CEO Ashley Gurvitz with day-to-day operations, overseeing and implementing grant-specific projects and monitoring progress toward departmental goals.
Garrett has more than 8 years of civic engagement experience and is no stranger to the UNEC area. He was a Case Manager for the Warren Township Trustee’s Office from 2015 to 2016. In April 2016, he began serving as the Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate under the Hogsett administration, where he served most of downtown and northeast Indianapolis neighborhoods, including residents and businesses within UNEC’s boundary.
Garrett holds his Bachelor of Science in Informatics, minor in Business and his J.D. from Indiana University McKinney School of Law.
