INDIANAPOLIS — Mayor Joe Hogsett recently announced that Matt Giffin will become the next corporation counsel for the City of Indianapolis. Giffin began working in Mayor Hogsett’s administration in 2019, serving previously as the deputy director and legal counsel for the Office of Public Health and Safety, and then deputy corporation counsel in April 2021. Prior to joining the administration, he worked as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker, as an attorney-advisor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and in private litigation practice in Indianapolis. Giffin received a bachelor of science degree from Georgetown University in 2010 and graduated from Harvard Law School in 2013.
Giffin will replace current Corporation Counsel Anne Mullin O’Connor, who will become the next general counsel for the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County. O’Connor has served as corporation counsel since September 2020 and with the City-County enterprise since 2016.
