The inaugural issue of the Eastside Voice was published March 13, 2009. One of the first calls we got on our brand-new (to us) phone was a gentleman who had been mourning the loss of the East Side Herald, when he spied our publication at a local restaurant. He was so glad to see local news that he had to call and tell us that it made his day.
Over the years we’ve received a lot of those kinds of calls, plus notes and e-mails, telling us how glad our readers are that we are hanging tough in a world that is increasingly digital and distant from their everyday lives. We’ve had significant challenges through the years, but we have been blessed with lots of local support along the way. We’re glad you make the Weekly View a part of your lives.
We would not exist without the backing of advertisers – and many of them have been with us from the very beginning. We appreciate their continued faith and commitment to the printed page.
Our columnists and contributors are a vital part of the success story of the Weekly View. Our readers often tell us that they are “addicted” to our columnists and can’t wait for the next edition. We are delighted to showcase unique voices and perspectives from the community on our pages.
The “ladies of the View” thank everyone for the continued encouragement. We look forward to the next year!
