Genealogy Program Covers Oral Histories

INDIANAPOLIS — The Genealogical Society of Marion County (GSMC) will present a free hybrid program on Saturday, March 11 from 1 – 3 p.m. The program will be held online and in-person at the GSMC Library 9370 E. Washington St.
The program, Your Family, Your Story: Oral Histories will be presented by Dr. Michella Marino, Deputy Director of the Indiana Historical Bureau.
Recording the family stories of your relatives is an important way genealogists and family historians can be sure memories will be available for future generations.
Dr. Marino will help us navigate the idea of doing an oral history.  The program highlights the best practices in the field of oral history and provides the basic tools to begin conducting oral histories.  Learn how to prepare for the interview, create interview guides, form interview questions, navigate insider/outsider status and preserve the interview.
