Silvia Moreno-Garcia to Present the McFadden Lecture March 16

INDIANAPOLIS — Bestselling novelist and winner of the British Fantasy and Locus Awards, Silvia Moreno-Garcia will present The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation’s 44th Annual Marian McFadden Memorial Lecture. The annual lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at the Madam Walker Legacy Center, 617 Indiana Ave. Moreno-Garcia will speak about her writing career and will sign books after the event. Mexican by birth, Canadian by inclination, Silvia Moreno-Garcia is the author of a number of critically acclaimed novels, including Gods of Jade and Shadow, Mexican Gothic, and Velvet Was the Night.
She has edited several anthologies, including She Walks in Shadows. Moreno-Garcia is the publisher of Innsmouth Free Press. Her fiction has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies.
She has an MA in Science and Technology Studies from the University of British Columbia. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Marian McFadden Memorial Lecture, made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation, has featured many of the nation’s leading authors, including John Irving, James Baldwin, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Patricia Cornwell, David McCullough, Neil Gaiman, Khaled Hosseini, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jacqueline Woodson, Junot Díaz, and Ta-Nehisi Coates. The 2022 lecture featured Caldecott and Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award winner Kadir Nelson.
Books will be available for purchase at the event through Dona Stokes-Lucas, with Moreno-Garcia available for autographs.
The McFadden Lecture is free to the public, but tickets are required for admission.
