• We’re very sad to report that Black Acre Brewing is closing its doors Feb. 4 in Irvington. For 11 years, Black Acre has created some great tipples and provided a gathering spot for Irvingtonians. They have also given back to the community and were tireless supporters of the neighborhood. Between now and their last day, they will be open from 4-10 p.m. at 5632 E. Washington St. so stop by for a last round. They will be missed.
• Queretaro, Mexico has been named a Sister City to Indianapolis, joining ten other cities across the globe to pair with the Crossroads of America. The Sister City program increases international awareness by formalizing business, education, and civic relationships.
• Saturday, February 4 is Take Your Child to the Library Day. Make plans to stop by with your little ones to any Indianapolis Public Library to get a library card, check out books, and find out about all the activities the library in your neighborhood offers. • Rabble Coffee is taking donations for winter coats, gloves, hats, and other cold weather items for Indy Hope Packages. If you have items in good condition that you would like to donate, drop by at 2119 E. 10th St. during business hours from 6 a.m.-3 p.m. and grab a coffee while you’re there.
• The Storefront Theatre of Indianapolis, 2416 E. 55th Place, will name their stage C.H. Douglas & Gray Wealth Management on Friday, Jan. 27 before the production of the play Post-Democracy by Hannah Moscovitch. • Save the Date!: On Saturday, Feb. 11 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. the Historic Irvington Lodge, 5515 E. Washington St., spend the day with an Oddity Art show, and from 1-7, the Big Gay Valentine’s Market. From 4-9 p.m., there will be a pinball fundraiser upstairs, with a $10 admission for unlimited play, and proceeds will help purchase a pinball machine for Riley Children’s Hospital.
• Adults ages 55 and older are invited for a planned walk from Garfield Park Library using trails through the park and nearby neighborhoods on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. They are planning twice monthly walks. A signed liability waiver will be required to participate. The Garfield Library is located at 2502 Shelby St. For more information, call the library at 317-275-4490. • FIDO, a nonprofit that improves the quality of life for dogs and their owners, has been doing great work keeping dogs off chains through their fencing program. They also conduct a pet food pantry for qualified individuals, and provide support services for low-income pet parents. Right now they need donations of inside dog training crates and harnesses.
