Applause!: Nov. 18-24

• The Indianapolis Public Library will close on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. and remain closed until Friday, Nov. 25 to observe the Thanksgiving holiday.
• Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 5333 E. Washington St., will offer a free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 24 from noon-2 p.m. at the school cafeteria. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. Take out meals will also be available. They are also looking for donations and volunteers to help out that day. Call the church at 317-356-7291 to donate or volunteer for this community event.
• Cumberland will host its annual Weihnachtsmarket on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. along U.S. 40 (Washington St.) from Muessing to Carroll Rd. There is a scavenger hunt for kids, vendor tents, reindeer games, and live music. The light parade and tree lighting ceremony is at 6 p.m. after a day of fun and carols. The kids can visit Santa and his missus, listen to holiday music, and enjoy the community spirit at this free event.
• The City of Lawrence will open its Winterfest on Nov. 26 with a parade and tree lighting. The festival will run every weekend through Dec. 23, and residents and visitors can enjoy all sorts of music and activities, including a winter market. There is also a skating rink at Civic Plaza. • Near East Area Renewal will be celebrating their new digs with an open house on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4-8 p.m. at the new space, 960 N. Rural St. on the southwest corner of 10th and Rural. Drop by to say congratulations and enjoy locally-produced refreshments.
• As we enter the winter months and snow begins to fall, you can see when and where Indianapolis snow plows will be deployed online at indy.gov/dpw. The Indy Snow Force Viewer map is available from links on that page.
•   The Stutz Winter Market will be held Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Stutz Building, 1060 N. Capitol Ave. Over 60 vendors with high-quality goods will be for sale at the event. While you are there, you can check out the renovations done to this historic building by the new owners. Admission is free.
• As the holidays approach, please continue to contribute to the food boxes and charities that help our less fortunate neighbors. Outdoor boxes are located at 30 N. Audubon Circle (the United Methodist Church), 16th & Ritter in front of Community East, 111 S. Downey at the church, corder of Bonna and S. Audubon in front of Irvington Books & Vinyl, and Emerson & Michigan, at the Emerson Ave. Baptist Church. Please only leave non-perishable items and things that will not freeze in the cold weather.

The Weekly View will be distributed one day early on Wednesday, Nov. 23 so that our delivery team can enjoy the holiday. Our editorial and ad deadlines for the Nov. 26 issue will be Friday, Nov. 18 for inclusion in the paper as we will have to go to press early.  We will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25.
