CUMBERLAND — With the rising cost of inflation many families that already struggle are feeling where do they turn to put food on the table for themselves and their families. As one gentleman shared, he is employed at a local ” Dollar store” but with minimum wage it barely covers his rent and utilities and if it were not for our pantry as well as another one that he visits, he would not be able to feed himself. This is a story all too familiar to those who live on the east side.
There will be a Food and Fund Drive on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Cumberland First Baptist Church, 116 S. Muessing St. in Cumberland. Pull up by the Bell Tower located in the parking lot by the north door and a volunteer will assist.
The public is invited to help this small local Food pantry that serves Warren Township in Marion County as well as Buck Creek and Sugar Creek townships in Hancock County.
Food that is needed: nonperishables such as canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned or jars of spaghetti sauce, boxed or canned pasta, cereal, boxed or bagged rice, soup, soup beans, or crackers.
Community Outreach Ministry Eastside is housed at the Cumberland First Baptist Church and is a Non-profit consisting of eight member churches: Amity United Methodist Church, Cumberland Christian Church, Cumberland United Methodist Church, Eastgate Christian Church, Cumberland First Baptist Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. John United Christian Church, and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
Any and all help is appreciated.
