• The monthly Irvington Farmer’s Market will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 from noon-3 p.m. at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair St. The Irvington Garden Club sponsors the market, which is a great gathering place for everyone, and a hub of produce and food options. In addition to produce, the market features local artisans and music.
• IndyFringe 2022 is in the books, and was a great success. There were 8,500 patrons over the 12 days of the festival, and artists received over $90,000 for their work. Thanks go out to all the volunteers who made sure everything ran smoothly.
• The Penrod Arts Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Newfields. Tickets are $20 per person and children 10 and under are free. There will be over 300 artists, plus arts organizations, food, entertainment and a children’s area. Newfields is located at 4000 N. Michigan Rd.
• College Ave. is closed between 11th and 13th streets until the end of September while crews place bridge beams and construct MSE walls. Traffic will be detoured to Central Ave. Bikes and pedestrians can use the east sidewalk.
• National Dance Day is September 17 and Garfield Park Arts Center will host a free, family-friendly class led by KDO Master Teaching Artists and Musicions from 2-3 p.m. at the arts center. Garfield Park Arts Center is located at 2432 Conservatory Dr. in Garfield Park. This is a drop-in class, so no registration is needed.
• The Genealogical Society of Marion County is hosting “Breaking the Silence: Understanding One Man’s Naval Experience in WWII,” on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the GSMC Library, 9370 E. Washington St. The speaker will be Laurent Peightel, who will take you through her journey to discover her grandfather’s naval service records and his experiences from another perspective. No registration is required for the in-person meeting, but online Zoom participants must register at tinyurl.com/3nrv34y6
• Irving Circle will host the last of the summer concerts on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. with the RoundUps. The Friends of Irving Circle will be selling hot dogs, brats, popcorn, and more, with proceeds going to the upkeep of the park. The circle will be closed to through traffic so everyone can sit outside and enjoy the music. Drop by if you can.
• George’s Pharmacy is moving to 5543 E. Washington St. Monday, Sept. 12 after many years at 16th and Ritter. They are taking the space next to CityWay Vets on the southside of E. Washington St. in Irvington. They will have a grand opening event sometime in October.
• The Colts open their regular season this weekend, and the city will be celebrating! Check out Bottleworks at College and Mass Ave. from noon- 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 for the Block Party, which opens back up on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for a watch party. The game is in Houston, against the Texans on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
