INDIANAPOLIS — Citizens will be moving into the next phase of construction, which involves excavation at the DigIndy site. Citizens will be installing a drop shaft which will connect portions of Irvington’s combined sewer system to the DigIndy tunnel system.
During this phase, neighbors and visitors to Ellenberger Park should expect to see increased construction activity and louder construction-related noises like horns and sirens. Here’s what to expect during this phase:
•Louder construction-related noises.
• The process of excavating to and through bedrock involves large and loud equipment.
• Neighbors located near the site may hear construction-related noises, including work activities, vehicles, horns, and sirens.
Citizens will do its best to minimize noise as much as possible and will keep work activities to between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The most noticeable activity will be a safety horn which will go off in advance of any excavation activities.
Traffic along Ritter Ave. will be stopped for a few minutes until after the horn is off.
Neighbors should expect to hear the horn once every couple of days. Excavation will occur in the next six months, with the entire project slated for completion in 2025.
