INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Dept. of Public Works recently highlighted ongoing construction on South Emerson between Southport Crossing Place and Stop 11 Rd. The $11 million project will improve the pavement structure, drainage, pedestrian accessibilitly, traffic flow, and overall safety of the roadway.
The project includes widening the roadway, and replacing the bridge over I-65. The project is in tandem with a similar project which will extend the improvements along Emerson from Stop 11 to County Line Rd. Construction on the second project is slated for 2023.
When complete, the projects will include a pedestrian and bike friendly trail that connects the Franciscan Health campus with shopping and many neighborhoods. It is also expected to reduce traffic bottlenecks in the area.
