INDIANAPOLIS — Portions of Mooresville Road, E 33rd Street, and Shelby Street are closed to through traffic. These closures will allow contractors to make improvements to the city’s transportation and stormwater infrastructure.
On the east side and downtown, there will be full closures along intermittent segments of E 33rd Street between Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue and Ralston Avenue from July 18 through the end of December 2022, to allow the contractor to install a new stormwater system. This work is adjacent to current closures along Dr. Andrew J. Brown and Sutherland avenues. Traffic encountering the 33rd Street closure from either direction may detour one block to the south via 32nd Street.
The Shelby Street bridge over Bean Creek will close for bridge rehabilitation beginning on July 19 through November 2022. All homes and businesses on Shelby Street will remain accessible during construction. Vehicular through traffic may detour via Raymond Street, Troy Avenue, and Keystone Avenue. Pedestrians and cyclists may use Willow Drive and Southern Avenue to the designated detour along Manker Street.
