Applause!: June 17-23

• The Black Hat Society of Historic Irvington will have a summer solstice parade around Irvington on Saturday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at the Irving Circle. The public is welcome to cheer them on and bring a canned or boxed food item for the Irvington pantries. The evening will conclude with a fairy dance and Wolfshager Hexenbrut German dance that guests can join.
• The John Boner Neighborhood Center is hosing a construction job fair on Wednesday, June 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., hosted with Englewood CDC, KP Meiring and CRG Residential. All types of construction jobs will be available. Vist jbncenters.org/event/construction-job-fair or call 317-808-2334 for more information. The Boner Center is located 2236 E. 10th St.
• The Broad Ripple Art Walk will be held Saturday, June 25 from 1-4pm. This free event allows community members to visit businesses throughout Broad Ripple who are featuring art from around the area. This is a family-friendly event that you won’t want to miss! Ride the IndyGo Red Line or park for free at the Indianapolis Art Center (820 E 67th Street). You might also want to park at the public parking garage at 6280 N. College Avenue.
• IMPD recently made some command staff changes. Commander Charles DeBlaso was appointed to Commander of the Special Operations Bureau, and Captain Joshua Gisi was appointed to Mayor of Special Operations. Congratulations to both these fine officers!
• The Third Floor Gallery at the Irvington Lodge will be open on Saturday, June 18 from 3-6 p.m. The gallery in the historic building, 5515 E. Washington, is a great showcase for local arts.
• There will be an Irvington Neighborhood Bike Ride on Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. This is a family-friendly bike ride that begins at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center at the corner of Downey and University. Water will be available.
• Tickets for the CrazyLake Acting Company’s summer musical Once Upon a Mattress are now available online. The shows are July 8-17 at various times at the H.J. Ricks Center for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. in Greenfield. Tickets are $10 at https://mattressclac.bpt.me and at Hometown Comics and Games in Greenfield, 1040 N. State St. Tickets are $12 at the door an hour before showtime.
• Arts for Lawrence will be celebrating Juneteenth with a Jubilee on Saturday, June 18 from 4-9 p.m. at the Fort Ben Cultural Campus at 8920 Otis Ave. There will be art, live music, kid’s activities, vendors, food trucks, and more. Act a Foo Improv Crew will have an after-party show at 9:30 p.m. with tickets costing $10.
