Applause!: June 10-16

• Organizers of the Irving Circle concerts were thrilled at the big turnout for the June 4 show with Audio Diner. A team of volunteers kept the concessions flowing and everything went off without a hitch — even the weather cooperated! The next Irving Circle concert will be Saturday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Donn Smith and Blue Alchemy.
• The Greenfield Strawberry Festival will be held Friday, June 10 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Bradley UMC, 210 W. Main St. in Greenfield. This is the 38th year for the festival, with proceeds going to help several Hancock County nonprofits. Tickets are $7 at the door.
• If you love to sing, the Irvington UMC, 30 N. Audubon, is organizing the return of the patriotic concert they held for years. Come to the rehearsal Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. The tunes will be by Irving Berlin and George Gershwin, among others. • The Black Mountain Visioning Project will host its final public meeting Thursday, June 16 at 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Purdue Polytechnic High School, 3029 E. Washington St. The meeting is about the best use of the property in the 3500 block of East Washington, the site of the environmentally hazardous “black mountain.” The city is looking for input on what to do with the 12.4 acre site. • Save the Date: The Cumberland Blues, Beer and BBQ concert will be held Saturday, June 25 from 6-10 p.m. on Saturn St. behind Retulled. There will be a variety of food and beverages available for purchase, plus A-list performers Gordon Bonham and The Tad Robinson Band. The evening ends with a fireworks show. This is a 21-and-older show.
• IMPD East District will hold a Coffee with a Cop event on Wednesday, June 22 from 5-6 p.m. at the Starbucks at 5702 E. Washington St. This is a chance for residents to meet with police in a friendly, casual environment to ask questions and voice concerns.
• Speaking of IMPD, if you or someone you know is interested in joining the force, the city is actively recruiting officers and other personnel right now. Check out indy.gov/activity/what-it-takes-to-join-the-impd for initial requirements and further information.
• The Irvington Community Council will meet on Tuesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave. All Irvington residents are welcome to attend the meeting. Masks are required for attendees. The event is livestreamed and recorded for those who can’t make it in person.
• The Bob & Tom Show will be live on Friday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Irving Theater for a benefit show to help send local kids to summer camp. Tickets are $40-$100 and available on Eventbrite. The show features Josh Arnold, Pat Goodwin and many more, all bringing the comedy for a good cause. The Irving Theater is located at 5505 E. Washington St.
