• All library locations will be closed for the Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30 except for the InfoZone at the Children’s Museum, which will be open from 10 a.m.5 p.m.
• The Bona Thompson Memorial Center is currently showing the Warren Central Photography and Art exhibit. The center, located at 5350 University Ave. in Irvington, is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. They will be closed on Sunday, May 29 to mark Memorial Day. Admission is free, but a donation is appreciated.
• The National Road Yard Sale, touted as one of the biggest sales in the U.S., will be held June 1-5 along the National Road through Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Look for sales to pop up along Washington St. from Greenfield through Indianapolis.
• Registration for the Eastside Games is now open! The annual games, which will be held June 17-25, is a friendly competition among East Downtown Indianapolis Neighborhoods. Events such as volleyball, scavenger hunt, horseshoes, frisbee golf, lip sync, and trivia offer fun and a sense of community for a week. • On Sunday, May 22, the Neighborhood Food Coalition had their first food giveaway at the Irvington Plaza. They helped over 150 people by providing food and toiletries. They are working on doubling that number in their June event. They are in need of donations of cereal, toilet paper, and canned proteins. The NFC also fills and maintains the red food box that was relocated from 10th and Arlington to the Irvington Methodist Church on North Audubon.
• Cumberland Trails Day will be held June 4 and include a run (5K, 5 mile, and 1 mile race), the Buck Creek Trail Chalk Walk (register online at www.friendsofcumberlandtrails.org), a marketplace with 20+ vendors, and lots of food trucks and fun throughout the day. The trail is located along Buck Creek on the east side of downtown Cumberland. Access is at 301 N. Buck Creek Rd.
• The U.S. government is making home COVID-19 tests available again for free. To get in on the third round of at-home tests, visit covid.gov/tests. If you don’t have Internet, call 1-800-232-0233 for information. Remember that free vaccines and boosters are available, including at Kroger and CVS, as well as other public locations. Boosters are available for everyone 5 and older.
• Indy Urban Acres is having a $2 plant sale on Monday, May 30 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Check out the sale at 7700 E. 21st St. Vegetable and herb plants will be available super-cheap!
