Community Justice Campus Fully Opens May 16

INDIANAPOLIS — Officials recently celebrated the opening of the new Indianapolis-Marion County Community Justice Campus with a ribbon cutting and remarks.
The new facility located at 675 Justice Way in the Twin-Aire neighborhood on the southeast side, houses the Marion County Superior Court, Marion County Circuit Court, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Adult Detention Center and the Assessment and Intervention Center (AIC).
The campus is located on the site of the former Citizens Gas Coke works and broke ground in 2018 after a lengthy process. The first part to open was the Assessment and Intervention Center which opened in December 2020 and offers help with mental health and addiction, breaking the cycle of low-level non-violent offenders being trapped in the criminal justice system. The AIC provides referrals and intakes, withdrawal management, and much more. About 40 percent of Marion County inmates suffer with mental illnesses, and as many as 85 percent have addiction issues.
In addition, the Marion County Sheriff’s new headquarters will be housed on the campus.
