IRVINGTON — To celebrate National Poetry Month (March 15-April 15), there will be a haiku contest for residents of Irvington and the surrounding area. Deadline to submit entries is April 15.
The contest is open to all ages. Entries should be in the “traditional” 17 syllable, 5,7,5 format.
Suggested topics are Irvington, nature, pets but can be about whatever you like. There is a limit of three entries per person.
Submit each haiku on a separate sheet with the poem on one side and your name, e-mail and phone number on the other side. Drop entries off at the Information Desk of the Irvington Library, 5625 E. Washington St.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be provided by local businesses. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the end of April.
