INDIANAPOLIS — Hear from a panel of local public health professionals and reporters to better understand the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, which will be felt in our community for years, especially in our healthcare system. What Are the Consequences of Covid-19 in Our Community? will take place on Wednesday, March 16 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 40 St. Clair St.
The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic will be felt in our community for years, from the way we conduct business to the way we educate our children. But the area that has been most affected as a result–for better or for worse — will likely be our healthcare system.
A panel of local public health professionals and reporters will convene to better understand a number of issues that have come to light or been exacerbated as a result of the pandemic: public trust in science and healthcare; the allocation of scarce resources; the impact on rural and other minority populations; Indiana’s health rankings and its relationship to our state’s public health spending; and more.
The discussion will feature Chad Priest, CEO of the American Red Cross – Indiana; Dr. Aaron Carroll, a pediatrician who is the chief health officer for Indiana University and a frequent contributor to The New York Times; and Farah Yousry, Side Effects reporter for WFYI and The Indianapolis Recorder.
The conversation will be moderated by Kory Trott, the director of The Research Integrity and Consultation Program at Virginia Tech.
