INDIANAPOLIS — White River State Park and many attractions will offer free admission and parking to visitors in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, Jan. 17. The park is located at 801 W. Washington St.
The park has partnered with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana to host the annual event. Instead of canned goods and non-perishable food items, visitors are encouraged to make monetary donations via credit card at Dip Jars throughout the park. No food items will be collected on site.
Free admission is available to the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Eiteljorg Museum of Western Art, the IMAX Theater (showing “Asteroid Hunters”), the Indianapolis Zoo, and the Indiana State Museum. The Indiana State Museum will have its copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment on display in the Legacy Theater with a curator on hand from noon-3 p.m. to answer questions. Hours for the attractions are 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Parking in the garage and surface lot is free on Monday. Parking is first come-first served.
