INDIANA — Chief Judge Tanya Walton Pratt issued a General Order, effective Tuesday, August 3 that requires all entrants and occupants of federal courthouses to wear face coverings and maintain six feet of social distancing in all public spaces within federal buildings and courthouses, regardless of vaccination status. Individual businesses and agencies within those buildings may set different standards within their individuals spaces.
Several major retailers are also strongly encouraging individuals to wear face masks while inside. Kroger, Walmart, and Target have issued statements noting that, in areas where there has been an increase in cases, they are asking shoppers to mask up again, regardless of vaccination status.
As of August 2, positive tests have increased, and there has been a significant rise in hospitalizations due to COVID-19. Virtually all the new cases in the past month have tested positive for the Delta variant. Almost all new COVID-19 cases have been among the unvaccinated, with only .126% of new cases deemed “breakthrough” cases of the virus. Only .005% of fully vaccinated individuals have been hospitalized with COVID-19.
As of August 1, almost 3 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated, or almost 51% of the population 12 and older.
COVID-19 vaccinations are available free to anyone who wants one and are offered at dozens of conveniently located pharmacies, Kroger, and clinics. Many places welcome walk-in patients. To find a vaccination center near you, visit ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
