INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) has fully closed the intersection of 38th Street and German Church Road for road resurfacing and signal upgrades. The work is part of $2.8 million package of improvements on German Church between 25th and 42nd Streets that includes road resurfacing, drainage improvements and upgraded traffic signals. Sidewalk and ADA ramp replacement began May 4 in select areas between 25th and 42nd Streets.
While the intersection should reopen in early August, work on the remainder of German Church Road is not expected to be complete until October.
When complete, the project will feature more than five lane miles of new asphalt surfaces, enhanced traffic signals at the intersections of 30th and 38th Streets, improved drainage, as well as new sidewalks and ADA ramps.
Until the project is complete, motorists who regularly use German Church or 38th Street should plan travel routes in advance and allow extra time to reach their destination.
