INDIANAPOLIS — The Scecina Memorial High School Crusaders softball team is moving to a new home field at McNulty Park. The park is operated by the nonprofit Irvington Sports Association (ISA). The Crusaders opened their 2021 home season on April 21 against Beech Grove High School.
McNulty Park is located at 6949 E. Raymond Ave. The Crusaders will play on Field 4.
The Crusaders softball team has won three Indiana state championships, in 2007, 2013, and 2017. Holli Streeval, a 1997 graduate of Scecina, is the Crusaders head coach.
Under the terms of the agreement with ISA, Scecina will add fencing, a scoreboard, and other field improvements.
“We’re very grateful to the ISA for welcoming Scecina as partners at McNulty Park,” said Scecina President Joe Therber. “We’re also thankful to IndyParks for their longtime partnership with Scecina while the Crusaders played at Brookside Park.”
“We won a lot of games at Brookside and have good memories of playing there,” said Scecina Athletic Director Jason Kehrer. “Now we’re looking forward to keeping the Crusaders’ winning softball tradition alive at our new home field.”
Chris Stinson, head of the ISA, said his organization is very happy to partner with Scecina. “We are excited about what we can do for Scecina softball and McNulty Park by working together,” he said.
Scecina Memorial High School was established in 1953 by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The ISA is operated by a new board of volunteers and financially supported by parents and the generosity of local businesses.
