Mass Shooting Kills 8, Gunman Takes Own Life

INDIANAPOLIS — On Thursday, April 15 shortly after 11 p.m. the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to 8951 Mirabel Road on a report of shots fired inside the Fedex Ground-Plainfield Operation Center. Officers arrived and located an active shooter incident.
IMPD officers located multiple victims with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) responded and pronounced eight people deceased at the scene. Five victims with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Two victims were treated by medics at the scene and released.
The alleged shooter took his own life at the scene.
IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Indiana State Police (ISP) detectives worked with IMPD Homicide detectives in interviewing multiple witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.
On Friday, April 16, the names of the deceased were released: Matthew R. Alexander (32), Samaria Blackwell (19), Amarjeet Johal (66), Jasvinder Kaur (50), Jaswinder Singh (68), Amarjit Sekhorn (48), Karli Smith (19), and John Weisert (74).
The gunman was 19 year old Brandon Hole, a resident of the east side. FBI and IMPD officials removed electronics from his home and continue their investigations into possible motives.
This is the third mass shooting incident in Indianapolis in 2021.
