Part of N. Sheridan to Close for Rehab Project

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) closed a portion of North Sheridan Ave. between 39th and 40th  Streets on Monday, March 22, for bridge rehabilitation work over Pogue’s Run. Work should be complete in mid-July.
Northbound traffic will use 38th St., Arlington Ave. and 40th St. to navigate around construction. Southbound traffic should use 40th St., Arlington Ave. and 38th St.
The rehabilitation project will replace the existing bridge structure, resurface bridge approaches and repair nearby sidewalks.

Indy Reads Receives Grant

INDIANAPOLIS — The Margot L. Eccles Arts & Culture Fund, a part of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, recently awarded Indy Reads $100K in a grant.
The funds are earmarked to support the organization’s opening and operation of its new location in Fountain Square. In 2020, Indy Reads moved from Mass Ave. to the former library location at the corner of Prospect and Virginia Ave. and is currently under renovation.
Indy Reads will offer adult and family literacy activities as well as community arts events and books. The organization’s mission is to build literacy and job readiness skills for adults and families. For more information about their programs, visit indyreads.org

IndyFringe Announces new Play Ground

INDIANAPOLIS — IndyFringe has announced the opening of a new series, the Play Ground, an outdoor gathering place for creativity and community at their pocket park.
The Play Ground kicks off in April with the return of DivaFest, showcasing four new plays by women. The plays were selected in early 2020, and the Indiana-based playwrights and DivaFest Coordinator Megan Ann Jacobs began collaborating this year to adapt to the outdoors venue.
DivaFest will run April 15-25 at the pocket park just off Mass Ave. and the Cultural Trail next to the IndyFringe Theatre. Audiences will have to wear facemasks and social distance. Visit indyfrige.org for tickets.

First Friday at CCIC April 2 will be In Person

INDIANAPOLIS — Circle City Industrial Complex, 1125 E. Brookside Ave., will host a First Friday Open House in person from 6-9 p.m. on April 2. Several artist studios will be open, including Full Circle Nine Gallery featuring Kimberly Ewing.
When visiting the CCIC, facemasks are required, and hand sanitizing stations are installed throughout the building. Social distancing is encouraged.
While visiting the art galleries, check out the businesses that have made the complex home, including Centerpoint Brewing, New Day Meadery, Fowling Warehouse, and 8th Day Distillery.
