INDIANAPOLIS — Scecina administrator John Hegarty is the 2021 Indianapolis Irish Citizen of the Year. John is current vice president of our International Program and former principal of the private high school.
On St. Patrick’s Day, as Irish Citizen of the Year, John will attend the 8 a.m. greening of the Downtown Canal with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, and Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor.
Some former recipients of the Irish Citizen of the Year Award include former U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly, Archbishop Tobin, and Father Glenn O’Connor.
John Hegarty grew up Ireland and has been very active in the Indianapolis and Eastside Irish community, including the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
