INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Repertory Theatre recently announced two more plays in its virtual season: the first play in this year’s INclusion Series, PNC presents NO. 6 by T.J. Young, followed by the timeless romance Cyrano, based on the book by Edmond Rostand and adapted for the stage by Jo Roets.
Written by T.J. Young, PNC presents NO. 6 is inspired by true events that took place in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2001, and explores the extremely relevant conversations of race and violence. A Black family, caught up in the upheaval of the aftermath of a police shooting, is at the center of NO. 6. Among the cast of four will be local actor Milicent Wright, who was most recently seen on the IRT stage in last February’s production of The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963.
The IRT will bring artists from around the country to work on this stirring drama. To create the marketing artwork for this March production, the IRT connected with multidisciplinary Indianapolis artist Tasha Beckwith, who is currently working on the painting that will represent the play in the promotional materials.
Streaming mid-April, audiences will enjoy the ultimate romantic triangle in Cyrano. Played out against the swirling pageantry of 17th century France, this classic tale of mistaken love will feature local actor Ryan Artzberger in the title role, the man with an ungainly nose and a large heart.
Virtual tickets and 3-Play packages are available for the season at irtlive.com or by calling the IRT Ticket Office at 317-635-5252. In the near future, information about the remaining two productions will be announced.
