INDIANA — Agencies in the Southern District of Indiana have been awarded more than $5.6 million in Department of Justice grants to fight and prevent violent crime. The grants, awarded by the Department’s Office of Justice Programs, are part of more than $458 million in funding to support state, local and tribal law enforcement efforts to combat violent crime in jurisdictions across the United States.
Agencies receiving the federal money include the City of Indianapolis for Operation Legend, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute/Indiana Supreme Court, Office of Technology for record improvement, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute/Indiana State Police for the National Criminal History Improvement Program, and Indiana Criminal Justice Institute for Project Safe Neighborhoods.
