Applause!: Nov. 6-12

• As of Wednesday, November 4, The Indianapolis Public Library’s nine locations that currently offer Sunday service will temporarily discontinue Sunday hours, and all locations will shift Tuesday hours to noon to 8:00 p.m. The locations affected by changes to Sunday hours will include Central Library, InfoZone at The Children’s Museum, and the Franklin Road, Glendale, Nora, Pike, Southport, Warren, and Wayne Branches. The Lawrence Branch typically offers Sunday hours, but is still closed as it has experienced significant delays in its renovation due to Covid-19.
• Indiana Landmarks is offering a free Century of Progress tour of five 1934-35 World’s Fair homes before, during, and after their restorations on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. This is a quick online tour, which you can access at indianalandmarks.org.
• The Indianapolis Public Library is hosting a free online presentation, “World War I: The Original Catastrophe of the 20th Century” on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Register to stream the event at https://attend.indypl.org/event/4630430.
• First Friday gallery tours will be open for your viewing pleasure on Friday, Nov. 6 from 6-9 p.m. The Harrison Center will feature Kyle Ragsdale’s new collection of paintings, drawings, an ceramics, plus a group show honoring longtime Harrison Center employee Pam Allee as she departs. The Underground Gallery will feature the Indiana Plein Aire Painters Association group show. The Holiday Window Walk will also premiere — take a peek at all the cool windows outside! The Circle City Industrial Complex at 1125 Brookside Ave. has lots of studios and businesses open for Friday. Due to the colder weather, the event has moved inside into the wide corridors and larger spaces — please maintain social distancing guidelines and wear a mask! While you are over there, check out New Day Meadery’s new tasting room, located at door G9 — they moved from Fountain Square.
•Indianapolis Animal Care Services takes donations to help the animals in our city shelter. They can always use dog and cat treats, puppy and kitten formula, pet toys for the stressed cats and dogs, and much more. Call them directly at 317-327-1397 to see when it is the best time to drop off donations at their headquarters at 2600 S. Harding St. They can also use money donations to help the animals!
• A big thank you to all the volunteers and election officials in Greater Indianapolis that worked the polls and kept everything safe and efficient for Election Day.
