• There was a great turnout for the Irvington Historical Society’s Ice Cream Socially-Distanced event Aug. 1 and 2. In addition to lots of great ice cream, the Bona Thompson Memorial Center hosted a showing of Rita Spalding’s “Paris” works — artwork inspired by her trip to, you guessed it, Paris. Beautiful!

• Fascinating to watch the slow walk of the “new building” to its new home on the Lawrence Cultural Campus. Arts for Lawrence has been doing a bang-up job of making the arts accessible in Lawrence for years now.
• Thank you to the Black Hat Society of Irvington and those Dancing Witches who made an appearance in PAR-10 Irvington on Sunday, Aug. 2. The ladies (and gents) have been showing up in Irvington to cast their lovely spells during the pandemic, whenever weather permits.
• The Indiana Historical Society will present History Happy Hour: Another Brief History of Underwear online on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. Fashion historian Karen DePauw will discuss the role underwear plays in fashion.
