Federal Funds Allocated for Purple Line

INDIANA — The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced a $177.5 million federal funding allocation to two transit projects in Lake County and Indianapolis, Indiana. The projects are among 12 transit infrastructure investment projects across the country that are receiving part of a $891 million funding allocation as they advance toward readiness for a construction grant agreement. Funding is provided through FTA’s Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program.
The Indiana transit projects receiving a funding allocation are the West Lake Corridor Commuter Rail Project in Lake County, Indiana, and the IndyGo Purple Rapid Transit Line in Indianapolis.
The IndyGo Purple Rapid Transit Line is a 14.8-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line to be constructed by the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) between downtown Indianapolis and downtown Lawrence.  FTA is allocating $27 million in FY 2018 CIG funds and $50.5 million in FY 2019 CIG funds to the project, to complete the CIG funding request.
