• The eastside icon Steer-Inn was host to the TV show “What Would You Do” the week of Nov. 11-15. Host John Quinones was on hand, as well as the film crew. If you’ve never seen the ABC show, it involves actors creating scenes where ordinary people are forced to either react or ignore bad behavior. No word yet on the air date, but you will certainly see some of your friends and neighbors in the background!
• The Bona Thompson Memorial Center’s annual Holiday Fair will be on Friday, Nov. 22 from 5-9 p.m. ($5 admission that includes hors d’oeuvres) preview opening, and Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (free admission, cash lunch available). Mia’s Specialties will be on hand with food, plus dozens of artists, crafters, vintage sellers, and local-interest book sellers will be on hand. Get a jump on holiday shopping!
• Having difficulty finding a job? The Indianapolis Public Library offers Job Center programs at many branches — a free service for unemployed or underemployed residents to get one-on-one assistance with employment skills. Upcoming centers will be at the East 38th St. branch on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10:15 a.m.; Central Library on Sunday, Nov. 24 as 12:30 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 25 at the Lawrence branch at 10:30 a.m.; Monday, Nov. 25 at 12:30 p.m. at the Brightwood branch, Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Garfield Park branch; and Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Spades Park Branch. Most libraries are easily reached via Indy Go bus service. Call the Library’s main number at 317-275-4100 to get connected to your nearest Job Center.
• Speaking of the Indianapolis Public Library, all locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and open during regular business hours on Friday, Nov. 29.
• The removal and replacement of the medians on the Red Line has begun, with the program expected to take 4-6 weeks. Indy Go is replacing the mountable medians with concrete to improve durability. All construction will be confined to the bus line. Also, due to cold temperatures, the battery range for the Red Line vehicles is reduced, requiring an additional charge while in service. Indy Go is working on temporary chargers along the route. The vendor, BYD, will be paying for the chargers. Drivers should expect to see Red Line buses using general traffic lanes in sections where work is underway.
• The Stutz Artists will be holding a Holiday Open House on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5-10 p.m. Many artists will have open studios and be selling works that are perfect for gift-giving. Admission is free. The Stutz is located at 212 W. 10th St.
• The Indy Winter Farmers Market is open on Saturdays through April from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Circle City Industrial Complex, 1125 E. Brookside Ave. Vendors accept WIC coupons, and there’s a big selection of fresh food, snacks, and much more. The market is indoors next to Centerpoint Brewing Co.
