• The folks that make the Benton House Tour of Homes really pulled out the stops on Sunday, Sept. 15. Lots of great homes, and it ran like clockwork. Great work, ladies and gentlemen!
• Bill Price will bring his “I Can’t Stop Looking at the Sky” show to the Carnegie Gallery, 115 N. Main St. in Fortville, on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. Admission is $10.50 at the door or online at Eventbrite.
• The Lawrence Police Dept. and the Reset Center will host Trading Places, a program to foster understanding and respecting the roles of community and policing, n Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Reset Center, 4330 N. • Adults are invited to receive one-on-one help with questions on using a computer or mobile device on Monday, Sept. 23 at the Beech Grove Library, 1102 Main St., at 3 p.m. Learn how to use apps, the Internet, and more.
• Congratulations to the 1205 Distillery on Virginia Ave. on their expansion into a new tasting room and cocktail lounge in Westfield! The distillery opened in 2014. The new place will open in December of this year.
• The Lagers in Lawrence Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 3-7 p.m. at the Civic Plaza in Lawrence, 9230 Memorial Park. The event will feature 25+ Indiana breweries, wineries and distilleries. Attendees will be allowed unlimited samples of more than 150 craft beverages. There will be music, dancing, German food, games, raffles, and much more. You might want to bring your own beer stein. Tickets are $15 (designated driver)-$39 (VIP). • Irvington Vinyl and Books will host Poets Attack! on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. The reading will feature Sherwin Bitsui, Natalie Solmer, and Nick Gilmore. Irvington Vinyl is located at 9 Johnson Ave.
• Near Eastside Area Renewal (NEAR) is hosting Caulk of the Town on Friday, Sept. 27. This year, they are focusing in the Willard Park neighborhood. Both home-owning and renting neighbors are welcome to apply. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers receive shirts and lunch. Register at bit.ly/caulktown. • The City of Indianapolis will be offering a People’s Planning Academy beginning in October to explain the planning process and empower neighbors. It consists of six classes, offered on weekdays or weekends, that cover planning and zoning, development, and much more. Classes are held at the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, 708 E. Michigan St. Weekday track classes begin Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. and weekend classes begin on Oct. 12 and run three Saturdays.
