INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo is beginning the transition of Veteran Cards to its new MyKey fare system. The cards will be transitioned during the next few months, and veterans will be notified individually when their new card is available. Current Veterans Cards have the printed expiration date of July 31, 2019, but will be honored with visual verification until further notice.
Last year, IndyGo announced a revamped program for veterans, offering unlimited access to IndyGo’s fixed-route service — including the new Red, Blue and Purple lines — with the purchase of a $2 Veterans Card. Current cardholders will not pay a fee to receive the new, MyKey compatible card. The program does not include paratransit (Open-Door) service.
To register for the program, veterans must complete the enrollment process at the Julia Carson Transit Center, 201 E. Washington St. They must fill out an application, provide proof of eligibility, and have a photo taken at the service desk.
