INDIANAPOLIS — Children and families are invited to hear children’s stories inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing read by members of the Indiana Pacers from April through June on The Indianapolis Public Library’s 24-hour Call-a-Story telephone line.
By dialing 317-275-4444 or toll-free 877-275-9007, listeners will hear recorded stories from Pacers players who demonstrate their love of reading as a way to encourage young ones to “read like a pro.”
The 2019 “Call-a-Pacer” schedule includes:
• Week of April 1 – Aaron Holiday reads “Grandmas from Mars” by Michelle Robinson
• April 8 – Kyle O’Quinn reads “Astronaut’s Handbook” by Meghan McCarthy
• April 15 – Cory Joseph reads “3, 2, 1 Liftoff” by Sonia Sander
• April 22 – Doug McDermott reads “Rocket to the Moon” by Lerryn Korda
• April 29 – T.J. Leaf reads “Captain Freddy Counts Down” by Elizabeth Shreeve
In 2018, “Call-a-Pacer” generated 65,124 calls during its 12-week run.
