INDIANAPOLIS — Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) will hold an art exhibition called reVISION | reEXPLORING ART, EXPRESSION & PERCEPTION for the fourth consecutive year. reVISION is a unique and interactive exhibition of works by regional artists exploring the world of art through the eyes of the visually impaired. reVISION will transform the traditional gallery presentation into a tactile, auditory and spatial experience that welcomes everyone, blind and sighted alike.
reVISION is a free event held at the Indiana Interchurch Center Art Gallery, 1100 West 42nd St., in March and April 2019. The opening night is on Friday, March 8 and will be an exciting evening with small bites provided by local restaurants, wine, and refreshments.
All of the artwork on display is strongly encouraged to be touched and explored. The artist’s descriptions will be written in braille and large print and QR codes will be available for audio recordings from the artists. For sighted patrons, VIPS will offer sleep shades and visual impairment simulator goggles to give them the opportunity to experience the artwork by using senses other than vision.
The majority of the artwork in reVISION will be for sale and a portion of the proceeds will benefit critical vision-specific early intervention services VIPS provides to infants and toddlers with blindness/low vision throughout Indiana. reVISION is exploring a new opportunity to reach more Hoosiers this year in the form of an online auction. Throughout the exhibition, patrons may bid on art pieces every Friday through VIPS’ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VisuallyImpairedPreschoolServices/.
