• Friends of Dogs Outside (FIDO), an east side organization devoted to improving the quality of life for dogs living outside, was of great service during the polar vortex, helping owners get their pets inside or improving their shelters. While there were heart-wrenching stories of animals suffering outside in the bitter cold (and one horrific death), FIDO volunteers reached out before the cold to help many more. FIDO works with city agencies for outreach, a pet food pantry and more, and is all volunteer, but relies on donations of food, fencing, and more. Visit their Web site at www.fidoindy.org or call them at 317-221-1314 to see how you can help.
