INDIANAPOLIS — Abby Goebel of Indianapolis is a winner in the Institute for Quality Education’s 2019 National School Choice Week Video Contest. In celebration of National School Choice Week, Jan. 20 – 26, IQE invited students, parents, teachers, classrooms and administrators to create a video sharing their school choice story.
Goebel attends Irvington Preparatory Academy, a public charter with a community focus. The school encourages students, staff, parents and other community members to commit to “The Irvington Way,” which includes being respectful, responsible, safe, involved and focused.
“The teachers give more to their students,” Goebel said. “It’s not just about the lesson of science, it’s about making relationships with them and working in their life outside of school.”
IQE received nearly 200 submissions from over 20 schools across the state. Three winners were selected and each will receive a $1,000 cash prize. In addition to this, a celebration will be held at each winner’s school to recognize their accomplishment and celebrate NSCW.
