INDIANAPOLIS — Join the Buck Creek Players for After the Fair, an Indianapolis Premiere musical with book and lyrics by Stephen Cole and music by Matthew Ward. Showing at the playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue, for a limited three-weekend run, Jan. 25 through Feb. 10, curtain times are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Sundays.
Unbeknownst to her husband (Scott S. Semester as Arthur Harnham), what happens when a married Victorian British woman (Lori Ecker as Edith Harnham) writes letters for her illiterate maid (Tara Sorg as Anna) and falls in love with the man to whom she is writing (Zachary Hoover as Charles)? A romantic, literate musicalization of Thomas Hardy’s short story, On the Western Circuit, this award-winning four-character musical has played Off-Broadway, London, and various cities throughout the U.S.
