Veterans Resource Fair Jan. 12

INDIANAPOLIS — On Sat., Jan. 12, The American Legion Department of Indiana will host a Veterans Resource Fair at the Marriot East Hotel (7202 E. 21st St.) from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with their annual Mid Winter Conference.
The purpose of the resource fair is to provide a robust resource for veterans looking to further their career opportunities, create an opportunity for veterans to learn about benefits and gain helpful information to assist with navigating the Veterans Affairs claims process.

Narcan Training in Beech Grove

BEECH GROVE — Community Health will offer free overdose education and reversal training with Naloxone (Narcan) on Jan. 17 from 6-8 p.m. hosted by Beech Grove Our Place,  at Christian Community & Performing Arts Center, 901 Alton St. The public session will show participants how to administer Naloxone and will receive a free overdose kit will supplies last.
Preregistration is not necessary. You must attend the entire session to be eligible for the free kit.

Police Merit Board Appointments Announced

INDIANAPOLIS – Three new individuals were recently appointed to the city’s Police Merit Board and one was reappointment. The four mayoral appointees will join two members elected by a majority vote of the active members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), and one member appointed by the City-County Council. The Police Merit Board works to establish rules and regulations for the police department; develops a classification of ranks, grades and positions for members of IMPD; and oversees the department’s merit system.Merit Board members must reside in Marion County; no more than two mayoral appointees can belong to the same political party. The bipartisan, civilian board will serve a four-year term ending December 31, 2022.
New members include Dianna Ferguson-Mosley, Frank Sullivan, Jr., and Jennifer Drewry. Joseph Slash is serving his fourth term.
